Has anyone seen this new market? This should be taken off the site. There is no way for the market manager to actually verify if something is true or not, relegating the market from a position of determining a group’s view of truth to a groupd perception of the gruops view of truth.

We thought about not allowing this on the site and we actually talked to the market maker and agreed it would be an interesting experiment to try and have a “tracking market” that would in essence never end. If after awhile it’s lame we’ll probably end the market and refund people’s inkles but for now we’ll let it run awhile to see what happens – you can always day trade it.

Definitely an incompletely defined market. No end, and no way for the final payoff to be determined. It isn’t the only user generated market with problems along these lines, but it is the worst that I’ve seen.

It is worth a little bit in amusement value, and no doubt instructive to Inkling as they continue to design and market a tool to allow folks to set up their own prediction markets.
