Market not cashed out when it should be

The market for the FTSE price at the end of 2006 hasn’t been cashed out. What’s the procedure here? I sent a message to the market maker, but nothing’s happened. The result is easily confirmable. Will Inkling eventually cash this out on behalf of the market maker? (On a side note, the post from “gudipudi” below this looks like spam…) |

Yeah, this is one of the issues we face with “do it yourself” markets. Sometimes the market makers aren’t so good at closing things out. Usually we go ahead and close them out after a week or two if the market maker isn’t responding. Thanks for bringing it to our attention… |

The Dannilynn market closed at the end of March and hasn’t been cashed out yet. I’ve tried contacting the market maker but to no avail. Can you close it out? My life savings (of inkles) are tied up there! Thanks! |

Yet another delinquent market maker: The market “Will the DOW close above 13,000 by year end?” should have been cashed out a few days ago. The DJIA not only closed above 13,000 on Tuesday, but has continued to do so every day since then. |

Would it be possible to have a few trusted Inkling Users given the job to police the overdue markets & give them the ability to close public markets when they obviously need it? I ask because it seems that the staff at Inkling shouldn’t have to be bothered by constant requests to close markets and that this seems as though something that could be regulated though the inkling community. Another option would be to only allow Inkling Traders who have been active for 3 or more months to create markets, thereby avoiding the “fly-by-nighters” who seem to come and go. |

I hope so. It’s frustrating to have your inkles locked up in a market that has expired, but the market owner seems to have disappeared. There currently isn’t a good way from keeping this from happening. |

Great idea s_. Also, there could be a tag or flag that ANY GOLD STATUS member (suggest gold status as more than $25,000 inkles) member could activate – once a market is closed – that shows the potential settlement and the date it will settle. IF the market owner does not respond in a reasonable time (say 10 days0, then the market will automatically settle on the suggested date. |

In the meantime by the way, all the markets listed on this page that hadn’t been closed out, I just took care of. The best way still to deal with this is to just email us at support@inklingmarkets.com and someone will try to get to it, sometimes more quickly than not. |

Two more markets need to be cashed out: “Which team will win the 2006-07 English FA Trophy?” “Which football team will win the 2006/7 English Premier League?” – I thought this one had been cashed out, but I still have (worthless) holdings in “Chelsea” that I can’t clear from my dashboard. |
